Summer Reading ♥

I have not been much of a reader but with it being summer and my schedule cutting in half from not currently attending classes or interning, I picked up a new hobby and that is reading. I have been addicted!! Within the last week I have read the following two titles.

Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent.

Heaven is for Real is about a young boy who got very sick and ended up receiving an emergency appendectomy and survived. Soon after, the little boy, Colton, started talking about his miraculous trip to heaven. At age 4, he expressed his visions of god in heaven and who he met there (which whom he had never met in life). All this believed by many by his visions of what his parents were doing while he was being operated on. He spoke of details on how god can hold the world in his hands and nobody is old in heaven or wears glasses.

This story is so touching in a way that non-believers will question and be encouraged to believe as well as excite and give hope to the ones who do. I could not put this book down and on several pages as I read, it gave me chills. There is no doubt a book that convinces you on what heaven may be like. As to if this book is true? Some parts I believe may have happened but there are parts that I still question. Either way, the purpose of this book is to give us comfort and hope and it did for me. A definite must read.

Rating: It’s Page Turner!! I read this book in an entire day; I could not put it down.

Over the Edge by Brandilyn Collins.

Over the Edge is a “seatbelt suspense” about a woman who was infected with Lyme disease by a member of the Lyme community to get back at a doctor who believed that Lyme is an easy cure and only needed just a few months of treatment and it be that. But in reality most sufferers need treatment for a long period of time and they are denied the treatment, insurance runs out and most ultimately pass away. Brandilyn Collins writes mostly Christian based novels like this one and as a Lyme Sufferer herself she wrote this book as part of spreading awareness of the disease.

This novel was given to me from the publishing company, B & H publishing, through NetGalley for free. From the first few pages till the end, I simply could not put this book down. I have never read a suspense novel before and I was hooked from the beginning. So many exciting twists and turns, the book left me on the edge. I love the personal connection to the book because it just made the main character, Janessa McNeil, seem real with her symptoms and experiences. Before this novel, I had no clue what Lyme disease was and my heart goes out to those who suffer and those who do not get the right treatment. I recommend this book to anyone! Such a great read.

Rating: It’s a Page Turner!! I will be reading more of Collins novels. This one was fantastic!
