God's Canvas

This week we finished our household chores week in the Mother Goose Time Curriculum and finished the week with the best nature walk of all summer. We went on a family vacation to Puerto Penasco!

If you are new around here, Mother Goose Time is a Preschool curriculum that we use to help homeschool my preschooler. It is a monthly subscription box that provides lessons and activities in monthly themes for infant-5 years of age. Every month we receive the curriculum in school bus box full of daily lessons, music, crafts, counters, story books and more.

Joslyn jumped in last week and helped me with the kiddos as they created their washing machines. I make every opportunity for the older girls to take a leadership role in the house. They really enjoy and plus who didn't love to play school when you were younger. It was one of my favorite things to do. She helped them put the washing machines together as I talked to them about ways the littles can help around the house. We talked about laundry and how its a never-ending task that has to be done.

Mother Goose Time lesson's are so easy to follow and implement. The lessons are laid out in an easy to read format. They list the materials needed, the questions to ask and the steps to follow to complete the activity. The best part is an explanation of how we can access their progress. It is nice to see something so comprehensive and easy to use.

Over the weekend we went to Rocky Point, Mexico. We took this opportunity to explore nature. We went searching for crabs and other sea creatures. After a week of learning about animal homes, this was a good opportunity to talk about ocean habitats. We spent three doors outside at the beach. I think it is so important for kids to be outside and playing so my heart was full seeing them explore.

Since we started using Mother Goose Time, I have seen a difference in the way the kids connect with nature. They are talking about the weather, animals they see and plants. During our trip it was rather windy and we talked about how it may effect our activities. We wanted to go kayaking and we spoke about how the wind was preventing us to do it safely.

Hunter and Em was convinced that the sea shells they found were remains of unicorns. I let their imaginations roam. We plan on painting them and putting glitter on them as a souvenir of our trip.
