I feel bad because I have not posted in a while but I get married in 7 days! So I have been really busy. But after next week I will be on track and ready to post more.
I am going to start a new series on my blog called Throughout the Years. A lot of people on YouTube and blogs do it and I think it would be awesome to learn a little bit about me. I will start with Kindergarten and go up till I graduate. I will be writing about interesting things that happened to me throughout the years. Today's post is on Kindergarten and every post after this will go up a grade level.
I chose to start with Kindergarten because its the earliest that I can remember a lot of details of my life. I lived in Apple Valley, California and it was about the year 1990 I believe. I had my little sister who was three and my little brother was not born yet. I remember music like Vogue and Holiday from Madonna or From a distance by Bette Midler. Before I started going to school we had a babysitter named Heidi who would watch us and when my mom dropped us off in the morning my sister would just sit at the window and cry for nearly an hour it felt. I would just stand there waiting for her to stop. I remember that I didn't like it there. I knew she was not very good to us. for example, I had to go to the bathroom so bad during nap time and she would not let me get up to go. I remember there being a lot of kids sleeping on mats in the hall and all throughout the house.
When I started school my mom got me these press on earrings that I loved loved loved to wear but I would always lose them sometime during the day. On my fifth birthday she took me to go get my ears pierced. I loved it. I remember the whole experience and how it barely hurt. My mom eventually quit her job and started doing babysitting in her home.
I remember she did not let me get away without eating my crust on my sandwich. haha. And she told me a story about when I was younger how I tried to get a knife to cut an apple and for some reason it devastated me that I bawled in the kitchen forever. I swallowed a nickel once and I just knew my dad knew about it and was looking for me so I hid outside forever hiding from him to find out he really didn't know about it he was just looking for me for something else. =)
In school, I remember there was this boy who would always chase me and try to eat my cheese and crackers. So I spent my whole entire recesses with my teacher every single day. One time I saw this girl move away and the teacher gave her so much stuff so I thought, That's cool I want that too. So everyday for like a month I told me teacher I was moving so I can get all that stuff too. And she pretty much ignored me.
At Christmas time we made these gingerbread ornaments at school to hang on our tree. I cherished those things for years. And every Christmas I would pull them out and just smell the gingerbread. It was my favorite part of decorating every year. They eventually broke about ten years later and I know longer have them. I want to make them with my kids because it was a memory that I will always keep forever and I want to create that for them too =(
My favorite book my teacher would read me was The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly
Oh and an interesting and embarrassing fact about it that I was a thumb sucker. Yep, big time and when I was in Kindergarten, I went to my first dentist appointment and the dentist said if I didn't stop sucking my thumb he would cut it off. So I started sucking my pinky.
