Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
One thing I believe when parenting is that my children will be encouraged to go places in life and that they will have the support from me. They need to know that I believe in them. During my first year of interning, a teacher had showed me something one of her student's family had asked her to do. She showed me Dr. Suess', Oh The Places You'll Go. It was filled with past teacher's letters and comments about the students telling them positive things about who they were and their future. This was a complete surprise to the child and the family had planned on giving this book to the student when they finished middle School.
I instantly thought this was a brilliant idea and wanted to do this for my children. My step-daughter began Kindergarten last year and I had the pleasure of asking her teacher to write an inspiring message for Hailee to read.. So when she felt down or didnt believe she was capable of doing great things, she can turn to this book when she reaches a fork in the road and know that so many people believe in her. Hailee's Kindergarten teacher did a really great job and it was exactly what I was looking for. I will ask all her and Joslyn's future teachers to fill in a part of the book as Hailee's Kindergarten teacher did.
I am really excited to get Joslyn's started this year.
Thats a cute idea Deanna!!!
